PROSPER’s Kim to be recognized with ISU excellence award

Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research (PROSPER) Associate Director Sunghwan Kim will receive the Iowa State University (ISU) Professional and Scientific Excellence Award at a ceremony later this fall.

The award recognizes contributions made by a professional and scientific staff member within and beyond the university and career progress demonstrated by accomplishments at ISU. It aims to recognize those with more than five years employment at ISU and who have achieved excellence in their respective fields.

Kim is one of three staff that will receive the award this fall, and he joins more than 70 ISU faculty and staff that will be feted at the ceremony. More details about the award winners can be found here.

Kim previously received the Professional and Scientific Outstanding New Professional in 2016. He received both his MS and PhD degrees in civil engineering at ISU, and his research specialty is in pavement science and engineering, including paving materials, pavement design and analysis, and pavement assessment and evaluation as well as the evaluation of various emerging technologies to achieve sustainable pavement systems.
